MacBook Pro - use iMac as mirror

Greetings.

I've seen many versions of this question, but not this exact one, so....

I have a MacBook Pro 6,1.

I also have an iMac 7,1.

I sometimes want to use the iMac screen as a mirror of the MacBook Pro screen (because it's a bigger screen).

The MacBook Pro would do all the "work".

(I do not think ScreenRecycler is the answer, based on what I can tell from their website and comments of others.)

Thanks for your consideration.

Assuming both your Macbook Pro and iMac have Mountain Lion, all you need to do is set up "Screen Sharing".

On your big iMac, Go to System Preferences -> Sharing (in Internet & Wireless) -> Click the box for Screen Sharing.

On the Macbook Pro, repeat the same steps.

Then go to your Finder on your iMac, make sure you are connected to the Internet, and look for your computers name in the side-bar. Enter the username and password of your Macbook Pro, and you can now screen share between your iMac and Macbook Pro!

Good luck!

This worked great, I first attempted to connect via thunderbolt cable with zero success. Then I looked onto the net for mirroring displays and those results were not the greatest. This solution works, I would have much rather have preferred to have my early 2009 24" iMac work as a secondary display via the cable...but this worked well.
